Kingdom Animalia

Animals are multicellular eukaryotes which cellular entities do not have cell wall. They derive nutrients from an external source and are known as heterotrophs. Animals ingest whole food and digest it internally. They reproduce mainly through sexual reproduction and they are capable of motion in some stages of their lives. In addition, animals have the capability to respond and adapt to their changing environment for the sake of survival. They have unique tissues that distinguish them from other organisms: nerve and muscle tissue. Furthermore, animals are characterized into vertebrates (with backbone) and invertebrates (without backbone).

For Mount Hamiguitan Range biodiversity assessment, researches are particularly made on vertebrate groups such as birds (Class Aves), frogs and toad (Class Amphibia), lizards and snakes (Class Reptilia), and in flying and non-flying mammals (Class Mammalia) and on invertebrates particularly insects and leeches.
