About the Species:
Rosettus amplexicaudatus or the Geoffroy’s Rousette is a species of megabat or the Old Word Fruit Bats. It is characterized by having a brown or grey-brown bodies and their heads are usually darker than their underparts. Their fur is short, with longer, sometimes yellow hairs around their neck and chin most commonly seen in males. Male of this species are much larger than females. This is endemic in Asia. It occurs in secondary forests, agricultural areas and other disturbed habitats like rural gardens, and fruit orchards. In MHRWS, this species can be found in disturbed areas to montane forest.
