About the Species:
Kalophrynus pleurostigma or the Black-spotted Sticky Frog is a small frog characterized by having a distinct black spot above its hind limb and a narrow-head with pointed snout. This species releases a sticky substance as a defense mechanism for predators. K. pleurostigma is endemic in Southeast Asia particularly in southern Philippines, Malaysia, Southern Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Singapore. Recorded from several studies, this species inhabits in lowland and hill forests. In MHRWS, this species is found in the lowland forests. They are commonly seen in the leaf litter in the ground.
