About the Species:
Ansonia muelleri or the Mueller’s toad is a medium-sized true toad which lacks cranial crest. It is characterized by having a visible tympana and parotoids, round swelling fingers and toes tips that are broadly-webbed up to disk except for the fourth toe. This species is endemic in the Philippines particularly in the mountains of Mindanao and Dinagat islands. Recorded from several studies, A. muelleri inhabits in riparian microhabitat specifically in cool mountain streams and rivers. In MHRWS, Mueller’s toad is found from lowland to montane forests. They are commonly seen in the rocks of clear mountain streams.
