About the Species:
Limnonectes leytensis or the swamp frog/small disked frog is a medium-sized frog characterized by having a distinct tympanum and a narrow head with roundedly pointed snout. L. leytensis is endemic in the Philippines particularly in the southern islands of Mindanao, Basilan, Camiguin, Bohol, Leyte, Samar, Negros, Panay and Sibuyan. Recorded from several studies, this species inhabits riparian microhabitat specifically in streams and rivers in low elevation forests, forest edges, and in some populations, swamp and other wetlands. In MHRWS, this swamp frog is found from lowland to montane forests. They are commonly seen in the rocks of the mountain streams.
