About the Species:
Myotis horsfieldii or Horsfield’s Bat is a kind of insectivorous bat species characterized by having a dorsum that is relatively long and uniformly dark brown fur. On the ventral surface, the fur is dark brown, the ears are relatively long and narrow, and the wings are attached at the base of the first toe. The calcar extends to half of the free edge of the uropatagium and it has a membrane extension that connects to the tail. This is endemic in Southeast Asia particularly in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Honkong, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam. The species occurs in primary forests but it inhabit also in limestone cave, lowland forests, disturbed and agricultural forests. In MHRWS, this species is found in secondary lowland to dipterocarp forests.
