Kingdom Plantae
Plants are multicellular and photosynthetic eukaryotes. Unlike animals, they have cell wall that provides rigidity. They produce their own food through photosynthesis in which process oxygen is given off. In contrast to other organisms, plants are non-motile. Plant's life cycle has a distinctive alternation of generations which means that plants have both the haploid gametophyte which produces gametes and the diploid sporophyte. Depending on the species, the generations can occur simultaneously or successively. Plants are classified as non-vascular and vascular plants. Non-vascular lacks vascular tissues that facilitates in nutrient transports while vascular plant are those evolved plants with vascular tissues that aids in water and organic nutrients transport. Plants are also classified as flowering (angiosperm) and non-flowering plants (gymnosperm). This also includes mosses, lichens, and ferns. All classified plant species are part of the research in Mount Hamiguitan Range.
