About the Species:
Eutropis cumingi or the Cuming’s Mabuya is characterized by having a robust body, a flattened head and a moderate snout. The dorsum is keeled, smooth and dark brown in color. A broad dark streak runs from its eyes to its flanks and tail, edged with light stripes. Moreover, it broke off its own tail when it is grab by a perceived predator. This is endemic in the Philippines particularly in Zambales Province and in southern Luzon Islands. in MHRWS, they are commonly observed on tree trunk and on leaf litter in the ground.
